Project Overview

Located in Southeastern Massachusetts in Plymouth County, Marshfield is 30 miles from Boston. This coastal community has a yearly population of about 25,000 people that grows to about 40,000 in the summer months. The Town of Marshfield’s water department hired Amory Engineers, P.C., Duxbury, MA, to design and build a water storage tank for the community. The project team specified an AWWA D110 Type III prestressed concrete tank because of the inherent long life span, durability, and extremely low maintenance requirements.

In 2008 Preload, selected as the preferred builder for this project, constructed this 2.0 MG prestressed concrete reservoir with an inside diameter of 76’ and a side water depth of 59.7’. The tank features a dome roof and a caged exterior ladder. The durable dome roof, with its uniform compression throughout the dome shell, is designed to handle Massachusetts’ heavy snows with ease.
